ABOUT ME
Embracing Lightness and Playful Nostalgia Through Sculpture
I believe in the transformative power of lightness, humor, and silliness. My sculptural art is a celebration of joyful, nostalgic moments that offer a playful escape from the everyday stresses of life. Each piece in my portfolio is designed to evoke a sense of wonder and happiness, inviting viewers to reconnect with their inner child and the simple pleasures that often go unnoticed. My journey as an artist began with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Communications from the University of Houston. Over the past two decades, I have honed my creative vision as an Emmy Award-winning broadcast designer, weaving storytelling and visual impact into every project I undertake. This extensive experience in design continues to inform and enrich my sculptural practice, bringing a unique perspective to each work I create.Currently, I am delving into the world of sculptural ceramics at the Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. This ongoing exploration allows me to experiment with new forms, textures, and techniques, pushing the boundaries of how lightness and playfulness can be expressed through art. My hands-on approach to ceramics is both a personal and professional evolution, reflecting my desire to keep learning and growing as an artist. In addition to my studio work, I find tremendous inspiration in my role as a kindergarten teacher. The boundless curiosity, creativity, and joy that young children bring to each day remind me to celebrate the small, playful moments that spark the imagination. These experiences are a constant source of ideas for my designs, reinforcing my belief that art should uplift and delight.Through my portfolio, I invite you to explore a world where art is infused with lightness and laughter—a space where nostalgia and play coexist, and where everyone is welcome to escape, even if just for a moment, into a brighter, joyful perspective. To view more visit my website at https://www.popartceramics.com or my Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/designer2masses/
